Jordan
Mezzo-soprano, Jordan Swett has completed her Master’s in Music at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was a member of the Maryland Opera Studio. She studies under the tutelage of world-renowned mezzo-soprano, Delores Ziegler. She participated in the virtual choir of the Mahler, Symphony No. 2, Finale in July 2020. Prior to the COVID-19 shutdown, she was a member of the Aspen Music Festival and School, where she portrayed Malla in "A Little Night Music," and covered the role of Petra. She was also the Marcellina cover for AMFS' production of "Le nozze di Figaro" that summer. She performed as the Second Lady from "Die Zauberflöte," Octavian from "Der Rosenkavalier," and Annio from "La clemenza di Tito" in featured Opera Scenes programs that summer, as well as being a featured soloist in concert at Harris Music Hall. She was seen as the Third Lady and Third Knabe in the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar’s production of “Die Zauberflöte” in the Summer 2018 season. Ms. Swett made her role and program debut as Mercédès in the Washington Opera Society’s 2018 production of “Carmen.” She was also seen in roles that include Mère Marie in “Dialogues des Carmélites,” in the spring of 2018, as Sesto in the Maryland Opera Studio’s fall 2017 production of “La clemenza di Tito,” and in the ensemble and covering roles with the Maryland Opera Studio’s spring 2017 season. She was also a featured soloist in various scenes in the Maryland Opera Studio’s Scenes performance. She premiered the role of The Weaver in the world premiere of “The Young King,” a new work commissioned and written for herself and her classmates in the Maryland Opera Studio. She has premiered many original compositions.
